5017 emergency

Hi,
My 5017 has the too high light on solid, the too low light flashing about 1 time per second and the audible alarm is on all the time. I can't find reference to this in the manual. Of course I am suppose to leave right now on a trip... The unit was working flawlessly and I tried buying another unit, but they are all sold out. Any suggestions? Is there a reset? I'm an EE, so I should be able to handle basic stuff.
Thanks,
Mike

Did you do anything to change the system or the surroundings- be very observant of any magnetic fields yoiu may have installed- cleaner magnet near by, ballast, pump. I have seen Mag Drives, Ice Caps (rare) and Workhorse as well as magnetic ballasts cause this.

Besides this option- is the float physically obstructed, is it clean? Is it hung up or did you clean it recently and assemble it upside down. Also, did the 5017 get wet?

The LED pattern indicates that the float is sending a signal and the optic sensor is showing it isn't touching water so the computer is saying "this makes no sense" and shutting down. You can reset by disconnecting power.

I will check back later today.

I moved the system and though it wasn't plugged in it got a little water inside. I dried it out and let it set for 24 hours. Then plugged it in hoping it would be okay since it didn't have electricity attached to it.. Some of the capacitors must have held a charge and though there wasn't much water it must have messed with something... I've applied power and turned it off. I checked the power supply and even though its in the 9v setting, when applied to the controller it still reads 11v and in the 12v setting it reads 15v.

I hear the relay click, but the pump doesn't turn on and no voltage turns is applied... I've tried turning everything off in the room, but I get the same result. I've tried moving the float up and down. Does the relay control the pump or is there some other logic? Is there a way to bypass something? Something that can be shorted to reset thing?

The relay controls the pump. Check the diodes IIRC they are 4002C diodes and they usually blow first just run a diode check and make sure the current is one way. These can be easily replaced. Unfortunately it is usually my experience that a miniaturized surface mount component is ruined and this is pretty much impossible to fix- the transformer reading you give are correct, the rating is for 115V and we generally have between 122-127V in the US. This voltage wouldn't harm anything. Even without current saltwater ruins things pretty quick- you might also try a rinse in Isopropyl alcohol the purer the better. I have a spare 5017 unit on hand but the unit is almost as much as an entire osmolator. If you are still in town give me a call and I can next day it to you.

I may have to order it from you. Can't even get one anyplace I've checked. Can you PM me the contact info? The darn thing is new... That was an expensive lesson...

Thanks for trying..

Just give me a call 10-5C 512-833-7546. The controller 5017 lists for $122.94. I'll give you a fair price on it as a replacement.
