My Tunze 505 Reefpack, {from Amazon}, should be here soon. Its going in my 3ft. 50g sps tank.
Upgraded from my 30g & 250 Reefpack which I sold.

Anyone wanting to see a review, I will do one. Also have experience from owning a 9010 skimmer at one time.

Rodger, does the Osmolator sensor that goes in the filter unit, go in normal side down or upside down.

Normal down puts it well below the surface overflow. Seems the only way is upside down.

Then perhaps Im missing something here..:lmao:

The optic sensor should go in the very small holder on the right, when it is locked in, as long as the filter is not clogged the water level should be about half way up the surface intake.

The right side holder is 1.75in. below the top. The lowest portion of the overflow is 1.5in. below. This puts the sensor tip almost 2.25in. below the top and 3/4in. below the overflow.

Have you tried it with the pump running? The water drops into the filter about 1-1.5" so the sensor is necessarily lower than the intake as the internal water level is much lower.

Not sure what Im doing wrong but I cant get the water level below the sensor. Unless I raise it so high the overflow stops taking in water. I have tried with both the filter in and my media holder in to nothing in.
Thanks

Are you sure the sensors are in correctly? The optic sensor installs facing down in the smaller C clip and the float installs facing up in the larger C clip. Could you post a photo?

100% sure they are in correct. Run it empty water level to low. Run the filter and its to high. Tried using my media holder but it sits so wobbly. Once when I had to high water I had the media holder upside down, as it fits perfect that way but that end is closed thus blocking off intake water to pump.

No real instructions how to use it in the filter instead of the floss one. So I have it in now and covered the top with a foam pad. Seems to have worked. I will see how the level is. For sure it has eliminated the terrible bubble spray from the filter.

On a side note I ordered a Tunze calcium reactor today to compliment my kalk reactor. :D

Any chance you can email me or post some photos of the sensor holders and the filter bell assembly, something doesn't sound right. I know on the one I have at home as the filter bell clogs, the water level in the filter rises and the level outside can be below the intake grate, but when this happens the filter makes a lot of bubbles and it is definitely time to change the media. Normally with a new cartridge the level outside rises to about 2/3rd of the way up the surface intake.
