50g Manifold - too much?

Also, do I need to cement everything once the layout is finished? Or can I just leave everything press fitted together?

Ok, so I did some looking around..

If I bought a Sequence Reef-Flo External Water Pump - Dart (3600GPH), it has a 2" input and a 1 1/2" output.

How would I plumb this to the tank? Just a single 2" bulk head? or can you split it into two 1 1/2" bulk heads and then join them up to a 2" pipe? Also, would you have to change the manifold to 1 1/2" piping all around? That would make working in the tank next to impossible.. So confused!! lol..

Found another question posed by a supplier when I inquired about the Dart, do I need a pressure rated pump for a manifold?

i run a manifold with 8 working outlets and 2 capped off. i use a dart for this and it is a great way to add flow to your tank you have complete control over. what i did was drill one hole to fit a 1.5" bulkhead and used about 6" 1.5" pipe. i then quickly opened the pipe up to 2" and it works great. i call sequence and asked them if this would be ok for the pump and they said it would be absolutely fine. i used 3/4" pipe for the manifold and reduced it to 1/2" locline. i do sometimes wonder if i am getting the full potential out of my dart using the manifold vs just a couple 1.5" outlets.

Jakano,

Thats what I am wondering as well, if the 3/4" line is just not going to give the pump its full potential. But I fear going larger will look too ugly and make it too difficult to work in the tank

when i was considering doing a manifold i asked anthony what his thoughts were and that is what he suggested to me to use so thats what i went with. i will try to find the thread but its over a year old so i doubt i will have any luck.

i didnt find the thread with his best advise but i found this one. i of course took the advise he offered here and put the pipe under the lip of the tank. i also drilled the tank instead of doing an up and over.

Any updates on this project? I'm considering an almost identical manifold & tank combo, so I am interested in your results.

Cheers,
Marty
