525 Gallon Design with Tunzes

Hello Roger

I am in the process of designing a 525 gallon system for a client. Dimensions are going to be 96x42X30. Its going to be viewable on all 4 sides. The tank has not been ordered yet, I want to get some feedback on how I can provide some flow to this monster.

The clients want a high energy reef, lots of bright sps, lots of fish. Im thinking monster flow for sure, I have a budget of about 3000 dollars just for the flow in this system, but I can try and increase it if it seems necessary.

I was pondering 3 or 4 of the 6301's? Or maybe some waveboxes? Can I have wave boxes mounted on the overflow which will most likely be located in the exact center of the aquarium? In a tank this size, can I use both wave boxes and stream pumps, or is the wavebox sensitive to other pumps working against it?

Any advice with this would be appreciated,

Thank you.

The 6301 is generally not suitable for home aquariums. This pump was specifically developed for zoos and public aquaria where large fish will be housed. The openings are large to accomodate the flow rate and anything smaller than a 4" fish is at risk of being puried. I would recommend 4 6201 and a wavebox and extension. If flow is coming directly at the waveboxes the wave will be slightly shorter but it will not be a dramatic difference.
