540 gallon tank, top off water???

I am having AGE put in a 540 gallon tank which will divide the main living room and kitchen - to be viewed on three sides. All of the equipement will be contained beneath the tank which will be fitted with a faucet and a drain.

What is the best way to do as close to maintance free top off? My first thought was to attach a 150gpd ro/di unit with a simple float switch, but I am concerned on the ro/di unit running most of the day thus producing alot of waste water and a high water bill. (I am going to use multiple ro units to cut back on waste water.) I found on filterguys what seems to be an electronic solenoid. Would this work http://www.thefilterguys.biz/top-off_controller.htm ?? Does anyone have an opionion as to the best way to handle evaporation in a tank this large?It will have 4 x 400watt MH above.

I have a system that I like very much so far. It is a D-D (deltec) system that consists of a float switch (with snail guard) and a solenoid that is hooked up to the feed to the RO/DI. It comes on as needed which is a few times a day. I also installed a booster pump with a pressure switch after the solenoid so it kicks on automatically once the solenoid opens up.

Its not the cheapest solution but I like the way it works. I'm sure the unit is cheaper in the US.

i was thinking of using the high/low top off deluxe.

Why not a dosing pump regulated by a high quality digital timer. This setup works well. I have used a variety of options. It is by far the cleanest and simplest worry free option.

i am trying not to have a top off container to maximize space underneath the tank. i thought an ro/di unit would take up less space as i would probably mount it on the wall.
