ok so here goes--- need some input--- i am going to be installing a 540 gal tank in wall--over a basement. tank size is 8' long 36" wide 37" tall... I'm planning on using 4 jack posts which are rated at 10,000# capacity each with 2x 12 triple laminated headers sitting on top of the posts,in which the floor will be sitting on the headers.then to get the tank 32" off the floor will build a stand to accomodate. does anyone have any welcomed input?

I'm still looking into that. I'm not going to put corals into it, because my angels love to eat them. Do you think 250's would be good enough for fish only?

250's would be more than enough for a fish only tank. You may consider T5, PC, or VHO. Halides seem unnecessary for a fish only system and would just create unnecessary heat. Love the size of the tank!

I've been watching your thread on your 540g. I still have not decided if I want to put corals in are not. I have the 250's from my 125g that I'm going to put over top. My angelfish nip at everything I have put in the 125g.

We did start taking down the wall. My hubby has to start on reinforcing the floor.

If you are keeping only fish, you can save energy by using T-5's or VHO

You may want to use a couple of 70 MH or 150W MH just for the natrual shimmer effect but if you dont care for the shimmer then T5 or VHO.
