Look at fish you like, then narrow down your choices based on compatibility and tank size, then look up your selection to see if they will live together and if you can take care of them. Also, don't forget to quarantine!
Liveaquaria.com is exactly how I stocked my 29g. I made up a list of fish that fit in my size tank and narrowed it down to the fish I liked and once I had a small group I picked out, I checked out their compatabiloty chart to make sure they would all work together. I only had 4 fish in my 29g with several hermit crabs and several snails. Didn't have any issues.... except with my royal gramma basslet and my purple firefish. Basslet attacked my firefish overnight
I would say a Dwarf angel such as a flame angel, coral beauty, or Lemonpeel (only if eating in the LFS before you buy!) would be your best possible show fish.
Molly Miller Blenny. Soo ugly it's cute and has more personality than most fish combined. Beats a Lawnmower Blenny hands down with algea control. A favorite for sure.
