55 gallon food grade/ water container

I bought a 55 gallon food grade/ water container to hold all of my fresh RO/DI water. The barrel has a certain plastic smell to it that has made all my fresh water smell like the barrel. Is this normal? could it potentially harm my tank? Thanks

FYI i tested the water and all the parameters seemed normal.
