55 gallon tank plumbing

Hello, just bought a 55 gallon acrylic tank that is used. I am trying to remove the pvc from the overflow port, but i am unable to remove it. I dont think that they used a bulkhead, at least from what i can tell. It doesnt leak, but i wanted to clean it up. Any suggestions on how to remove it. I posted pictures of what it looks like.

it's tough to tell from the pics, but by any chance is it a bulkhead that has a PVC coupler screwed to the outer threads of the bulkhead?

Yea that is a possibility. Just don't know how to go about removing it
