I was wondering if a 55 package could fit in a 29 gallon aquarium?
Not for long just if it could fit because i have a plan ( i will tell later )
I just want to know if Physically it could fit.

I suppose you could make it fit.... although I wouldnt recommend it. Just depends on the dimensions of your tank and rock you get.

why not wait and order when you are ready for your "plan"?

I cant imagine cycling that much rock in that small of water volume will be easy.

You would probably be better off sticking the rock in some rubbermaid garbage cans and cycling in there and then transferring. Then after you complete your plan- I assume it's getting a bigger tank...which is just about everyone's plan on RC :) you could use the garbage can(s) for water changes.

Thanks but i already have a bigger tank. a 55.
I don't want a rubbermaid becuase it will be harder to light and keep the rock "alive" (sponges corals anenomes ect.)
THe plan is to put it in the 29, then take it out piece by piece and quarentine it in a 20 long so i can observe it and pull out any hitch hikers (for two weeks per rock) i will use traps, lures ect.
I will place the rock on one side and a piece of shrimp on the other and see if anything will go after it. I have lots of traps in mind and i will tell you them later.

You might be able to physicaly fit the pieces into the 29, especially if it is split in the normal 2 part arrangement. I'ld have two concerns though.

The first is the size of the base pieces (first part of the package) tend to be fairly large. You can specify to TBS the maximum size of the rocks so that they fit the openings of your aquarium, but the dimensions of the 29 vs the 55 may require rocks less interesting in shape.
The second concerns damaging the corals and bivalves that tend to be attached to the rock. Some of the rocks can only be placed in a certain orientation without damaging the native life. The confines of the 29 may dictate sacrificing some of these.
A photo of the first half pieces of my 50 package sitting in the tank to give you some indication. HTH

I have a 55 gallon package in a 58RR and it doesn't take up 1/2 the space. It would probably take up over 2/3 the space so you might have a problem with circulation. I'd recommend a couple of rubbermaids.
