55g what to put in it??

hey. thinking strongly of setting my 55g up as a saltwater tank. was just wondering if they are any sharks that could live comfortly in there? there whole like. if not what size would i need? also any rays? or eels?

I think that your tank is too small for sharks and rays. As far as eels are concerned how about a golden moray. They stay pretty small.

cool. thanks i am new to salt water too so idk if a shark would even be a good idea? but i like aggression in animals why idk im not cruel its nature but i like things that tend to do harm? ha idk is the golden or snowflake more aggressive? or how do they behave?

also whats the difference between smooth hounds and a sweel shark? i am going to be getting a big tank when i build a house. i would like to know how big i would need it for one of those. and if one is more aggressive?

I have a snowflake eel and they aren't very agressive at all. In fact they're probably the least agressive eels you can find.

Actually, if they get really hungry they can get mean. I read someone posted that their snowflake went after a piece of food and instead bit into the tail of a tang and almost ripped it completely off. But I think that's pretty rare. Mine has never shown any agression towards other fish or even hermit crabs.

ok well i have a 55gallon tank as you know i would like an eel. i want an aggressive one. any ideas? is there any that get pretty big that will be ok in a 55g tank if it was all that was in it?

Yea your basically torn between a snowlfake and Golden Dwarf (which are rare and expensive). Anything else would get waaaay to big.

There are other gnarly things you can stick in a smaller FO tank like that:

- Small Puffers
- Clowns
- Damsels (Though I'd always recommend a school of chromis over anything else. They show no aggression unlike their mean cousins and are fun to watch)
- Midwater gobies like Firefish are always a great choice as long as you have more peaceful tankates and a lid.
- Dwarf Angels
- Gobies and pistol shrimps are a blast to watch
- Lionfish
- Other FO wrasses (banana Wrasse for example)
- Dont quote me on this, but you may be able to pull off one of the less aggressive triggers like a niger or blue throat. Also if you added a trigger, he'd basically be king of the tank and there isnt much else you could add

There are many eels smaller than a snowflake. Snowflakes are actually pretty large eels, and are not appropriate for a 55g. The only eel I could recommend for a 55g is a dwarf or chestnut. It is easier to find the dwarf, and they've also come down in price if you know where to get one.

TANK0789 I don't get you. You have asked all these question before and you never got the answers you wanted, so you leave for a while and return to ask the same thing about sharks and rays.
The last time it took 7 pages and you were going to bid or get a 500 gallon on ebay.
How many pages this time?
I think you like to be the center of attention that is why you are back asking the same questions again.
No disrespect intended, I just call it as it is.
