I have a question,
Would you consider that a deep sand bed? Do you vacuum the substrate? It's so clean. When I get my nano up and running I want my substrate just like that. I see so many tanks with red algae and detritus in their substrate. I like the clean look. Any thoughts?

Oh and what brand of substrate did you use? Is it sugar sized sand?

I really don't like a deep sandbed, it's a personal preference. I just think that it takes away from the look. Every three days i tend to get a little bit of stuff on my sandbed. When this happens i just turn my AC110 up to full speed and it tends to clear up the sandbed in no time. If i get something that tends to stick like some crayno, i just take a small spoone and take it out of the tank without losing as much of the sand bed as possible. I think it's all about water movement and filtration as to how clean your sandbed is. Also frequent water changes are a big plus....Goodluck, once you get the hang of it you'll be fine...

I just used the 1 bag in my tank. I hate a tank that has a deep sandbed, i just think that it takes away from the over all look of the tank...

You may have too have a deep sandbed if you want certian fish.

Lpabsolute - The tank looks great..

How is flow with the AC 500.. is it too much..
I would think the AC 500blows most of the sand to the back of tank and creates Sand dunes....??

Also what kind of PC's did you get .. a retrofit kit..
if so from where did you get it..
