5x2x2 recommendations?

I've been thinking about getting a TS21 kit (2 x 6000 with 7095 controller) with the magnet mounts but I am not sure if it will be worth the premium price (~$800 total) or if they will even work well for me with my tank.

My tank is a 150 gallon (5'x2'x2') with a 2 inch southdown sandbed. I don't have any corals yet, I will probably pursue mostly leathers such as frogspawn and bubble coral, and some softies. I don't anticipate getting into SPS for a while.

What should I do?

It would be great for the leathers, careful positioning would make it acceptable for the bubbles and frogspawn, these long flowing polyped LPS need a very gentle indirect flow so they should be sheltered. Just keep in mind you have only 3-4 hrs before the price will be almost another $100 on a full set- Sept 1st the new pricing goes into effect.

I went ahead and got them from MD and they came in last night. Holy cow these things can flow....

What kind of placement is recommended and what settings on the 7095? Right now they are on the back wall in the corners about 4 inches down pointing towards the front middle. I wish I could point them up just slightly, any way? The way they hang with the magnet holders they point very slightly down.

You could take a slice from an old credit card or some similar piece of plastic to shim it upward slightly. That mount is intentionally loose to allow some room for coralline growth without impeding the removal of the part.
