60 inch stand build ideas

i have been looking around for a 60 inch stand for my 120. the few i have found are over priced and i trust my building skills enough to do a diy stand. has anyone done a 48 inch plus diy stand yet ? i really need to get a 55 - 75 gallon sump under this tank to take the place of this 13 gallon thats under it now . i just dont have the space i need to clean up the tank .thanks guys
 
You mean 60 inches wide right? I built a 6 foot long stand at 30 inches high for my 125. I had it set up for over a year with no probs, then I sold it. garf.org has good plans. I just used alot of 2x4's.
 
No I was going through a divorce at the time and rushed into my other house. I had the stand already built, but never got a chance to stain it. The 125 was fresh, however I built a unstained wood stand for a 30 reef 2 years ago which is still up. After two years it still looks the same.

thanks bk.... its in the plannning stages now.... i dont want to go all out since this isnt going to be perm, its just untill we get a house with a basment so i can do a in wall 250 gallon plus
 
I'm also trying to come up with plans for a stand to fit a 75 gal. below. I've been drawing it up with Google Sketch Up and have come up with some different ideas. I plan on having enough room for my 75 to basically sit on 2x4's off the ground and giving a foot above the tank for space. Then i'm going to have the 75 flush with the front and give a foot in behind it for pumps and other stuff. I'm going to incorporate a door to the one side and probably use some angled steel as a top and side support to keep my vertical bracing to a minimum. Since i'm putting a 90g on top with the same footprint as my 75, i'm goning to have a compartment built behind the main tank with a pull out drawer for storage behind the tank. Hopefully this will give you some ideas.

Then I added the 1/4" Plywood around the Stand. The Canopy is made of 3/4" Plywood.

looks good ... i just posted my 120 on craigs list hoping to sell my stuff so i have enough for that 175 bow front ... i really need a drilled tank

Yes a drilled tank is the best way to go.

marino420td stand blows mine away, but I don't have the tools for all that fancy stuff
 
niether do i what would be a good price to ask for my tank.... 60 inch 120 with stand , a bak pak 2 skimmer , 2 600 gph hob over flows . canopy, 13 gallon sump, and a fluval 405 . 65 watt florex flood for the sump, flex piping for 1 over flow ?? any help would be great
