I have to say that the Tunzes work great for keeping things clean.
The only rocks I have to "turkey baste" off are the ones directly under the Tunzes. The rest are always very clean, even the inaccessible places that one would think were impossible to have any flow around or through!
I only have 2-6000s with a 7095 controller in a 180, & this is plenty! I can't wait to see your tank again Paul, looking good!

Russ, I have dursos.

What makes my system quiet is the construction of the slits in the overflow, the back side of the hole is chamfered and the water doesnt splash but flows down the slope.

as I said, with the exception of the closed loop pump, its almost silent. Even with the CL pump on its about same noise a refrigereator running in the background.

Very little to no water noise or splashing sounds.

Sorry...I just realized I didnt take pics of eh durso, however i did take a few pics of the tank before I do a major re-scape. One of my small pumps (maxijet) was sand stirring so once again it was a bit cloudy.

A view through the length of the tank: from left to right. The tunze is over 8 feet away.

saturday/sunday the left side is being stripped and redone.

Paul.

Paul, I've been lurking for too long...I can't hold it back anymore...YOUR TANK IS AWESOME!!!! Whew...I feel better. ;)

LOL....

I would have to disagree...at least in principle. Its tough having an image in my head that is not reflected in my tank. For various reasons I rushed the move from one tank to the other and went for easy as opposed to what I really wanted. That was just the way it had to be.

Over the next few days I will be building arches of rock on PVC pipes. The rock will be drilled and slid on the pipes. These will interconnect with pyramids of rock to create a very open structure.

the basic idea is a cascade of rock from the corner sweeping across the tank with high and low points, caves and tunnels.

btw.......Thats a realy scarey Avatar TJ. I prefer my level of protection to yours.

I would actually say that my avatar is VERY scary! But, I've also been on the receiving end MANY times while in the RedMan suit.

I hear you. Wearing that thing is an art in itself. I wore it against a stick fighter....that hurt. I have been knocked senseless by women when teaching WSD....however, I shudder to think of the damage if I hadnt been wearing it.

Why are you going to strip it? Isn't there a good chance you will loose a bunch of corals? I always heard that it is best to plant corals where you like them and then leave them alone to grow.

the corals arent coming out. the rock is. The rock is being reworked into the shapes I want then the corals will go back onto the rock.

it just looks way too artificial right now. So...time to don mask and snorkel and get in there. I may actually get in all the way this time.

hey paul, when you first started, did it take you awhile to get your flow right?!?! because with the tank that i am currently doing it seems like that i cant get my flow right and i have 2 1500's and 1 450, plus some pipe off of one of the 1500's going 2 directions, it still seems weak!... what do i do?
