i am looking to build a 600 gallon reef with 1" thick acrylic. the tank will be 96"x48"x30". i am looking for help in finding out if the 1" will hold and if it would be better to have a cut out top for a brace. if i can i would do it 96"x48"x48" but have heard it would be to much work so please help me in building this dream.

I have a 1" thick tank same dimensions as the one you want. It is straight as an arrow, no bowing at all. Just make sure they do the top out of 3/4" or preferably 1" think, and do 3 large holes for the lights to be placed over. Mine has a 8" wide brace all the way around

1" will be great for that tank at 30"H, I'd recommend 1.5" for 48"H. Full sheet top with cutouts is the best way to go.
