600 Gallon Plus in Wall Tank-Living Room/Dining Room Divider from Saudi Arabia

Hello everyone! My name is Abdullah from Saudi Arabia and I've been in the saltwater hobby for only 2 years and with only marine fish only.

This will take a while, my wife has put me on a budget so be patient. Plus, I'm still working out some of the details.

I wanted to start this thread to get any feedback on the tank system before I start building it. Tank is pretty simple with no closed loops as all flow will come from Tunze Turbelle Stream Kit TS48.

I'm open to suggestions or feedback on the setup so please feel free.
I am trying to take it slowly to ensure i dont end up with a messed up tank system

Tank
600 gallons (102x34x42) built by glass with external overflow. 3 sides will be viewable, and 3 sides are starfire. With stainless steel frame.
(3) 1.5" drains
(1) 1.5" returns

Stand
Basically the stand will be made of 100 x 100 x 10 mm thickness angle bar.
It is going to be welded, sand blasted, painted and then I will apply fiberglass all around the steel just to prevent the steel from muster.
But what do you think, should I go with 80, 90 or 100 cm High ?? Please advice

My 435 is also a divided for my formal
Dining room and family room.
Do you have a diagram of the lighting?
Also the TUNZE stream you mention is not enough for that tank
Maybe you should look into getting couple of 6305 or the new replacement 6255 ( or something like that )

Good luck with the build

The external overflow box. I think I need to modify it because it looks small or what do you think experts. It is 10cm deep.

Water felling started for leak test

Nice big tank you setting up. Why have a steel frame around the tank. With todays good quality silicone im sure a tank that sive braced should hold the water safely. Are you sure the overflow going to handle the water going to the sump as you have a big return pump? The TLF 550 reacter dont work for biopellets, best to buy a proper pellet reacter. Im using a JNS pellet reacter and works like a charm.Good luck with the build.

Thanks zaheda,

I decided to go with SS frame due to one bad experience with my 800G Discus aquarium.
I use to have one large Discus tank three years ago got hit with a piece of steel furniture on the corner and then the tank got exploded.

Dear bullitr,

I am still working on the design of my tank canopy and lighting. I am planning to come up with a design that will allow me to move the whole canopy to the side with only one touch. So I can work on the tank without any restrictions & obstacles.

Thank you so much for visiting my thread

wow cant wait for updates! but have to agree the over flow box looks kinda small IMO!

Oooh my god, you are from El Paso,Tx"¦"¦ lucky you
I been there so many times
Do you go to Juarez Mexico on weekend

The overflow box dimension is 55 L X 10 W X 15 H (CM) :worried:
I will test it as soon as I finish the stand fabrication & painting.

If the overflow box need to be modify, I will fix it with this dimension 55 L X 15 W X 25 H (CM)

Thanks

Finally I started working on my aquarium stand yesterday. It toke my 3 workers 8 hours to finish this small job due floor level.
The contractor who install the marble in my house did not do a good quality job.

The floor where I'm setting up my tank is not level. The left side of the tank is 11mm lower than the right side over the 10 foot span.
Unfortunately, it is not level front to back too.

At the end we got the job done and the stand is level.

Now we are moving the stand outside living room for full welding

Abdullah, with so much steel going into your construction, surely you are concerned about rust. Will you powder-coat the stand and aquarium frame?

Thanks Dave,

My plan is like this

I will sand blasted, painted with APCS 26 or galvanize it and then I will apply fiberglass all around the steel just to prevent the steel from water & muster.

Regarding aquarium frame, its SS 316L I do not think I need to do anything to it.
Or what do you think??

Thanks again
