6025, a good product, just be careful opening!

Hey all,

I just received my 6025 in the mail from Santa :) I had read in several threads here that the plastic clips were weak. But no one posted a picture showing them. So I thought I would help out anyone else that might be confused:

Here is a closeup of the clips:

I tried removing the cardboard from one side of the clips and immediately bent them despite trying to be gentle. So then I decided to simply cut the cardboard away:

Which then let me simply lift the cardboard away without any risk of pressure on the clips:

Assembly was very easy after that and after cleaning my back wall a little, it is in a temporary home:

The flow is a little weaker than I expected on my hand, but in the tank I see corals swaying that are out of its direct path, so I would say the flow is nice.

I'm happy with the product and am looking forward to adding a 6045 and hope that packs more of a punch. Yes the clips are easy to bend, but if you just cut the cardboard away, problem solved. Once installed the clips feel very secure and so far my pump has been silent.

Thanks Roger!

We now include a warning tag in the box and cut the cardboard bigger and changed the plastic formula to make it less brittle. Thanks for your help and support!

Good to see Tunze using customer feedback :) I'm happy to say two of my three powerheads are Tunze and the third (a SEIO) will be replaced by a 6045 when I can get my hands on one.

I felt in front of the 6025 this morning and it is now a stronger flow after running for about 12 hours. The cyano in the right front corner of my tank is nearly gone and did not advance at all during lights on yesterday, so it is doing its job!

Roger, I'd also like to add that I breed a lot of snails in my tank and the smaller ones often get stuck in my SEIO intake slots. The snails are able to crawl over both my 6060 and 6025 intake slots with no problems, so your pumps are now saving lives :D

I just wanted to add to my thread, I was able to find a Tunze 6045 and it has been in my tank for a few days now.

I must say I'm VERY impressed with the 6045. The flow is much more powerful than the 6025. I placed it in the worthless 4" space between the Oceanic offset overflow and the side glass. The left 24" fo my tank now has a LOT more flow than when I had a SEIO 1100 in that area.

I first started the pump out angled too much toward the surface and the flow about 12" away from the pump was causing a 1/2" bulge in the water's surface that was about 6" across.

It even felt more powerful 2 days later, not as dramatic as the 6025 difference after two days, but still an improvement.

Too bad Tunze doesn't make a low power return pump!

Here it is where I've had low flow for the last 2 years:

What sort of return flow do you need? We do make return pumps, but some require metric plumbing.

Weird, I looked at your website and didn't see any return pumps. Do you have a part number or something I could search on?

But I do currently have an Ehiem 1060 that is 9 years old and runs like a champ. But I'm sure someday it will fail and I will definitely consider your return pumps in the future.

I need a pump around 600gph (400gph with 5-6' head)

Eheim makes a good pump, about the only advantage I could offer over Eheim is lower heat and lower power consumption. 1073.03 uses 3/4" NPT fittings. 1200/2 is 25mm metric and we offer the pipe sets but you can also make an adapter. 1200/2 is quieter and more efficient. 1073.03 is easier to use and cheaper.

Roger,

Thanks for the info, I will consider these in the future for sure. Not sure why but I didn't get notified of your reply.

Brian, I have the same Oceanic tank and was curious as to your placement of the three nanos. Any pictures or drawings?

This is my last full tank shot, which should help. I only have 2 Nanos in my tank, the other powerhead is a 6060 (which I really like as well).

The 6045 is in the lower left corner pointed up about 30 degrees (in the picture the SEIO 820 was removed and the 6045 placed about 6" lower than the SEIO).

The 6025 is in the lower right corner aimed forward and up slightly. Its position is the same as in the picture, same with the 6060.

I need to play with the setup a little as the 6045 flow is so good it is preventing a lot of surface debris from going down the overflow.

Hope that helps.
