6025 and 6045 question

I took both of my pumps out to clean them and when I went to put the magnet and propeller back on the pump, neither of them have a washer. Is there supposed to be a washer on the shaft? I could have swore there was, maybe I'm losing my mind.......

Thanks,
Billy

There is a disk, it is a plastic washer but it stays at the base of the shaft and doesn't come out easily. Older ones had a metal washer but this is not used anymore if the pump has the new black/grey disk, it was only used with the older white disk.

With the white plastic base drive unit you would have a white disk and a metal washer at the bottom of the pump, it would be best to upgrade to the new disk and drive which is graphite reinforced plastic and is a grey/black color, a metal disk is not used, it is quieter and last longer. These are parts 6025.700 and 6025.740.

I will send them at no charge, just PM me your address. I can't ship until next Monday as we are out of disks.

Not yet, I do have your order entered but we didn't get enough disks, I should be able to get this out to you later this week.

Just to clarify, can the washer/disk type indicate the shaft type(titanium or older style)? I have (4) 6055's which all have white impellers, but one of the units has a metal washer. Would these units run any better with the newer style impeller(part#6055.700)?

thanks

On the 6055 you can be almost 100% sure it has the titanium alloy shaft. The 6055 just started to be made at the time we changed over, at most 200 pumps with stainless steel shaft were made and only about 50 were shipped to the US. In most cases all you need to do to get the pumps to current specs is remove the stainless steel washer and add the 6025.740 disk and new 6055.700 drive unit, the main difference is it will be quieter and the drive and disk don't wear out as quickly.

So I have three 6055's & two 6045's; two of the 6055's are new & it says titanium alloy, so I take it these do not need the new disks; the third 6055 (about 18months old) I think has a white washer (would have to check when I get home)...will this & the 6045's benefit from the newer disk? really have no issues here, pretty happy with them.

What about the 6100's & 6000's... they are much older but dont have any issues except one 6100 now started to cause vibrations

6100 and 6000 have no metal shaft they use a bearing system and the drive unit hasn't changed since about February 2007. If you have the 6100.700, you have the most recent one.

The main problem with the white plastic is it is just natural nylon, it is soft and sand and grit embeds in it and it starts to act like sand paper and grind through the propeller. It then spins backwards or stops turning the prop. This can take months or years it depends how much fine grit and sand is suspended in the tank. I wouldn't change the parts unless you need too.
