Hi, I have struggled to get a definitive answer although I think it is a yes.

Can I mount my 6040 upside down to help keep my bb reef clean?

If so do I need the deflector on?

It would be run on a continuous mode.

Cheers!

6040 yes, but 6020 no since the prop comes forward on start up on 6020 and can jam upside down. It may be prone to making more noise upside down as air can be trapped under the propeller in the motor. The best might be sideways and using the flow deflector to aim it downwards. You can run it without the flow deflector though.
