6055 Click on Wavemaker

I have two 6055s and I finally added them to a VDM port on my Apex and programmed a wave. Now, when the pumps start up there is an audible click. Is there a new impeller that I should be looking to buy, or maybe a setting in the Apex that I over looked? I went off of another persons recommended settings and it doesn't appear that they have the same clicking noise going on.

Here are the settings I used: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1994312

How old are the 6055's? If they are before mid 2010, the disk upgrade is all you need, 6055.740, you also need a tool to remove the old disks, like our 0220.707 but any small 45 degree pick tool will do. If they are pre mid 2008, the drive unit 6055.700 should also be upgraded.

I think I may be having a similar issue. I recently purchased the following spare parts because both of my 6055s were clicking, and last week one of my 6055s completely stopped working:
6055.740
6095.700

Didn't realize the proprepellar doesn't work on this model. The tunze site has 6095.700 listed as spare parts for the 6055 pumps. How do the install these pieces correctly?

I don't see any mention of it as a suitable part for the 6055? The correct part is 6055.700. You will not be able to install the 6095.700. You are welcome to send them in and exchange them.

To install the disks you first need to remove the older 6025.740 disk, this will require a pick tool, similar to our 0220.707, these can be found at just about any hardware store and you will just hook it and slide it up the shaft, it can sometimes take some persistance and patience.

I'll send in the incorrect part for an exchange, however what are the recommended troubleshooting steps I should take to isolate the problem to what I described? Outside the clicking noise inherent on both pumps, one has completely stopped working. For this pump, I will take the preliminary usual troubleshoot steps (de-calcify, run without controller, etc) and will report back with my results.

Any reference you can direct me to on 6055 troubleshooting will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I might just send the pump with the impellers.

I would first verify it is not the power supply, they usually last 3-4 years, swap power supplies between the pumps. I would do all testing with no controller connected.

Their is a manufacture date on one side of the hexagonal body of the motor (remove the prop housing and look at the sides of the motor). No date means it was very early in 2007, later in 2007 dates were week and year, in 2008 and later it is month and year.

Power supply issue. Just tested it out with my other pumps' power supply and it works just fine.

Given that these are most likely pre-2008/9 will a standard drive unit work to replace the older unit?

Just to confirm before I order a replacement power supply, the tunze part # is 6055.240?

Yes, the power supply is correct and the newer type drive unit will fit an older pump. Your new order is shipping today.
