6055 noise when running

I have a new 6055 that I bought from marinedepot.com. I'm running it on 7091 single controller from the lowest setting to highest and at the longest interval. When it switched from the low setting to the high setting it makes a noise that is clearly audible in the entire room. I have tried taking it apart and putting it back together, stopping and starting it, just letting it run, and running it without the controller. Is there something else that I should check or what could be done?

Thank you,
Dan

It sounds like the stainless steel disk is stuck to the drive unit. They do a dry test run at the factory with vaseline and if they use too much these parts stick together. Wiping it off should solve the problem.

What disk would be talking about? I have removed the impellar assembly from the housing and don't see a steel disk. The noise seems to be getting worse and now makes the sound no matter what power setting the controller is on. The sound is low when in the low setting and loud when in the high setting.

From June- October the 6055 was made with a white nylon disk (6025.74 in you manual) at the base of the shaft. Between that and the drive unit was a stainless steel disk which is not shown in the manual. It is basically a very small washer, less than one cm in diameter with a hole that is only slightly wider than the shaft. The white disk is not removable neither is the shaft. The stainless steel disk should fall out easily if the pump is tipped upside down or it may stick to the bottom of the drive unit. In November the stainless steel disk was replaced by a graphite/nylon one that is also non removable (at least not without special tools). It is black.

Thanks I will check when I get home from work. How do you suggest I go about cleaning the washer? Should I just wipe it down with a cotton swab? If I have the non removeable washer what should I look for next?

I strongly suspect the washer is wedged down in the pump off of the shaft and that is the cause of the noise, just look down in the hole, get it out and put it back on the shaft and you should be fine. If it has run this long I don't think there will be any vaseline left.

There is not a stainless steel washer. I cleaned out the housing with a cotton swab, and it is quieter but still making that noise. What is our next step from here?

Probably the best thing would be to send it in for service.
