6055 Power Supply

Roger,

I believe I have two 6055 power supplies that are not working. The light doesn't light up at all one power supply and the other one has a very faint green almost amber light. I tried switching the cords on the other power supply but get the same result. It's probably part of the problem but I can tell you one the power supplies seems to have quite a bit of corrosion inside the box of the one that doesn't light up. Based on reading other threads Tunze only covers a 2 year warranty which these were bought in 2007. Is there any thing I can do to get new power supplies without having to by new pumps?

You can order the power supplies as a spare part on the link below. You really should never have to buy new pumps, every part is replaceable.

Hi Roger - I have a 6055 power supply unit issue also so hope okay to add to this thread. The unit was working fine until I unplugged it from the power strip this weekend to clean the impeller and housing for maintenance purposes. Never had an issue before from just unplugging but this time the pump did not start up and noticed the green power light does not come on anymore. Is there anything that can be done for the power supply unit? Thanks, Doug

They are not repairable. They generally will last around 3 years. If it is less than 2 years old it is under warranty and will be replaced if you send it in with the receipt. If it is more than 2 years old, they are not terribly expensive, they are $43.16-

There`s the energy savings on these units down the drain, pluss I thought Tunze was all about reliability.

OK, here is the question (before I try it out myselfe); Can I power the 6055`s I have with any 24 volt powersupply (true DC and enough amps) so I dont have to replace these units all the time?

Like you say, they are not expensive but it is still anoying to have to live with the reduced reliability.

You can use any 24VDC power supply it should have a 2.5 by 5.5 mm connection. In general power supplies that last longer cost at least double. At a certain point it isn't worth it for the extra expense and the best ones would require a rack mount like a computer housing so they are difficult to handle.
