6055 started clicking after being cleaned

Hi Roger and everyone else -

I've been using two 6055s on an Aquasurf in my 90g for over a year now, and both have been working flawlessly until today. As I do regularly, I put the pumps in a vinegar bath for cleaning, but now after I've put the pumps back in, one of them has started clicking.

The clicking happens just as the pump comes on for its cycle.

I had an extra spacer/washer from about a year ago when I first had this problem, but that didn't seem to help anything. I've also gotten the new drive units.

Again, both pumps had been working well (silently), until I cleaned them, and I've cleaned them before without this happening.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

My best guess is either the propeller is now loose on the drive unit, it should be stiff, you can turn it about a quarter turn with some effort if you hold the magnet still, but it should freely turn on the magnet. If that is not it, my guess is the disk is worn and whatever was in there gave it enough extra cushion, cleaning it increased the gap, the new 6055.740 disk to replace what is in there would solve that.
