6060 stream question

hi roger -

i'm running a tunze 6060 in a 55. I had thought it was in "perfect" position but it turns out every 10~20 minutes or so it'll slurp some air from the surface and generate bubbles. Moving the tunze further down the tank creates too much flow near the bottom. As an interim, I placed a little bit of floss above the tunze to prevent it from slurping air.

Is this okay as a long-term solution or will I be damaging the stream? I was thinking one other alternative would be the deco rock but I recall you saying it might be too big for a 55? a 55 is 48x13x20.

Thanks in advance!

The rock is almost as wide as the tank. I don't know what to suggest, their is a risk the floss could wrap around the prop or get into the magnetic drive system and this could cause a problem. I might try something more like a pad or sponge. I would think if you just drop it one notch it should be OK. Otherwise you could live with the bubbles as eventually the intakes will lose some strength as corraline algae grows and this should also stop it.
