Open the pump and check for an obstruction, remove the propeller assembly and check inside for sand, etc.
Check that the power supply lights up and check that the female power receptacle on the pump did not get pushed back into the box (if the box opened up, it could be pushed out of its retainer).
It should just pull out, it sounds like their may be some sand or calcium deposits between the magnet and the shaft it spins on binding it up. Calcium would be odd this quickly but it is not impossible if their was a precipitation or additives are dosed near the pump.
In general the pump safeties stop it when it jams, the pump will try to restart and could eventually be damaged but this takes a fairly extended period of neglecting the problem (several days).
