6100 and a multi controller

Just bought a 6100 and a multi controller.. I'm not sure how to set the pump to pulsing (varying flow).. since look like the pump runs all the time and seem to be at a constant flow..

I saw the tunzes at my friend run/ stop randomly... He told me it needs at least two pump for the multi controller to be able to perform the pulsing.. If there is only one pump, that pump would run all the time at one speed (?) unless i buy a single controller then i may be able to vary the flow.. Is this true?

If not, then how do I set the pump to make sure it's pulsing or at least run/ stop/ run.. rather than running continously at one speed?

I don't have the dir. in front of me but in the upper left hand corner (above the feed button) the dial when turned all the way to the left will give you a fast pulse, turning it to the right slows the pulse down. if you turn all the way to the right it will not pulse. so check to see if it is turned all the way to the right if so turn it to the left. I am running the same setup so I know it should pulse, mine does. Also make sure you have the pump plugged into the first slot after the night sensor, you have the first set of dials set at different setting ( top 100% and btm 30%) and finally aim the nozzel so that the water moves at the surface and then when it pulses it will be easier to see, because the impellar will continue to spin as it pulses so it will be hard to tell. 1/ Is there a difference in the functions of the 2 dials on the same channel? I mean what 's the difference between a setting of 80% at top dial & 40% at bottom compared to the setting of 40% top and 80% bottom?

2/ What does the percentage on those dials mean? does 100% mean the pump will run at it full speed (set by the screw on the driver)?

It does not matter if you have it 80/40 or 40/80 as long as they are different. Yes that is what the dial means 100% =wide open. The set screw in the drive (blue box) needs to be set at 100%, I think all the way to the right. If it is not at 100% the controller will not work!! Jerry

how come after I set the settings as you recommended (30% and 100%) and the pulse dial was set at the middle and then at the max position.. I couldn't feel a difference in the flow by placing my hand ~4" away from the outlet of the pump. I thought I'd feel a clear difference in force b/t a 30% and 100% flow.. Am I still missing something in the settings? (and yes the screw was in the max position.

i had the interval switch (12) atthe bottom (1-7 min). The mode switch (13) set at the bottom and then at the middle position==> no difference. The knob (5) set at min then middle possition ==> no diff. Also tried unplug the pump for a short time then plug in again==> still didn't see any difference

if the pump was actually pulsing, should the performance light #14 (rotary knob 4a) and light #15 (knob 4b) be switching alternately to indicate the pulsing operation?

I found the problem - it's my bad The photo cell was placed a little too far away from the tank. after I moved it closer to the side glass, the pump started pulsing like crazy.. I love the pulsing action of this pump - it's insane! thinking about buying the second 6100 soon

I never even thought of the photo cell / night mode. I'm looking at getting another one also when I can get up the $$$$. Jerry
