6100 help

Hello Roger:

I have a set of the 6100 streams and one of them is giving me fits. Every time the power blinks it stalls and I have to restart it by taking the pump out of the Tank and spinning the propeller by hand. This may be my fault...I have not cleaned them due to the fact I am afraid to ruin the pump by dunking it in muriatic acid. If that is a good idea I will take care of it after you respond. The second part is more of a question.

I think there was a rubber "O"ring behind the impeller shaft when I first bought them. If that is accurate, that is the problem since it is no longer there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Either way, these things are performing miracles in my tank

That oring has to be their for proper function. Never use muriatic acid but vinegar is perfectly safe. I think the pump is just dirty and missing a part. Probably the best solution is order a new drive unit because other parts will have worn improperly from the missing o ring. This is part 6080.60 and costs about $27.
