6100's need frequent cleaning

I'm running two 6100's in streamrocks with a 7094 controller.
I have replaced both impellers with the new models without brakeshoes and my CA level is about 390.

They were totally cleaned in vinegar 5 weeks ago and now one has quit already and needs cleaning again.

I know the 7095 has a new setting to help prevent CA buildup but is there anything I can do to try and get a longer interval between cleaning without buying a new controller?

It's kind of a pain when they are in the steamrocks even though I keep them up high now because of the frequent cleaning there are still corals and stuff growing on the rocks.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

If the KH is high or the pH or Magnesium, these could all be culprits that would accelerate the accumulation of lime deposits. I would make sure that when you clean them you clean the upper bearing and the hole in the center of the drive unit.

Thanks Roger
I'm still kind of at a loss to why, the impellers were brand new, the motor was totally cleaned and I think my levels are OK.

Mag 1500ppm
Alk 9.6dkh/3.43meq
PH 8.2

Should a lower speed help with less heat to slow calcification?

Do you have a lot of sand particles or sediment? That could accelerate the problem. A lower speed will not be that much help.

I have been running mine for almost 7 months now and they are covered in coraline algae and are still working strong. Worth every penny.

I was wondering if Mag was high, Thanks, I've never dosed it but I'll keep an eye on it.
They are a great product, I appreciate German quality and engineering in aquarium hardware.
I might have to bite the bullet and move up to the 7095 though.

You should buy some Muriatic acid from a pool supply store and pour or dunk the base and inside the camber for 1 sec don't get any on the propellers. Then get a half full bucket of tap water and pour maybe 20ml or more muratic acid or some chlorine and let everything algea covered EXCEPT THE PROPELLER set in there for 1 hour or so. THen rinse and wipe off with a cloth.

Do not use Mruiatic Acid, it causes the plastic to swell, every time you clean it the openings get smaller and lime builds up even faster. Strongly electronegative acids form hydrogen bonds with plastic and can cause an increase in mass of up to 5%.
