6101 down for the count

Hi Roger,

I have been in the process of changing tanks and whilst doing so one of the 6101 fell into the sand , the alarm went off, and i removed it rinsed it and placed it back in place. it happened a second time and placed it back in its spot and thought everything was fine, a;arm came on but went off by the time i got to it, so i thought it was ok. What I hadn't noticed is that it simply didnt work anymore.

I have the ts24 kit, when i unplug the one that is working from the multicontroller, i noticed that the lights from the controller do not even come on with the second one plugged in. I tried to switch the transformers thinking that was it and they both work, when i took the driver apart and switched the plugs of the powerhead i noticed that the powerhead that wasnt working suddenly came to life except with the alarm, meaning that something is still blocking it, but in conclusion the powerheads original driver must have burnt out. Is there anything that can be done, replace a fuse or something?

Although of course im sure its not that simple, right? I hope it's sort of clear

When you said you took it out and rinse the pump. Did you take it apart and clean everything thoroughly? I suspect you have sand in the back of the propeller. The alarm went off because of the blockage from a grain of sand .... Please follow the cleaning sticky above and get back to us with the status...

Thanks Jarhead, for the alarm sound you are right, but there is no more power going to the driver. I only managed to get the alarm sound when i dismantled the driver unit and plugged the 6100 into the other driver. its current driver is not working it seems. Do i have to get a replacement unit or is at as simple as changng a resistance?

I would send the pump in. If the driver is dead it must be replaced, the only repair we can do is simple things like a detached connector. Usually a dead component starts a chain reaction so multiple components have failed and repair is not a viable option. I am out of drivers but should get more in a week or so.

thanks Roger,

I will order one directly from Tunze Germany as its closer to where I currently reside. Would it be expensive to have a replacement driver to be shipped from the States to Saudi Arabia?

Yes and if you order it on the Tunze.com website you can probably get a fairly low flat shipping rate from Germany.

Another question not realted to the powerheads. I have just connected the osmolator and it was working fine until i connected the return pump to the electricty. The cables should not be running alonside the osmolotators sensor cables? RIght? Because now it just keeps telling me pump on

It could be interference or it could be bubbles and turbulence from the pump being on. Usually EMF interference cause the Osmolator to shut down and alarm so I suspect it is more the flow of the pump causing the problem.
