6101 Problem

Hello,

I recently received my wavebox that I had sent in for repair and it now works great. Thank you for the excellent customer service!

Unfortunately, yesterday I noticed that my 6101 (run by a single controller) was no longer spinning. I removed it from my tank and gave it a vinegar bath and good cleaning.

I then placed it in a tub of water to test it. When I have just the power supply plugged in, the LED indicates a solid red (normal I believe). But when I connect the power supply to the pump and controller the power supply LED flashes rapidly and lights on the controller light up in a random manner. The impeller only twitches very slightly. The behavior of the power supply and pump is the same when I unplug the controller. Upon inspection it seemed like the base of the drive unit was warm to the touch after running but I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Should I send this in? And if so, which parts should I send.

Thanks!

Please try using the power supply on the wavebox first so we can determine if it is the power supply or the motor.

Roger-

I tried your suggestion and swapped the power supplies for my 6101 with my wavebox. The wavebox runs fine and has been running okay all week so it doesn't seem to be a power supply issue. I tried the 6101 and it worked. I ran it for about an hour in a tub of water and then put it back in my tank. However, within 10 minutes of seting it back up in my tank I noticed it was no longer running. I took it back out and was unable to get it to run in the tub of water as well.

Since then, I have tried it occasionaly in the tub of water. Sometimes it will not run at all and other times it will run normally for a while before stopping 1min to 1hour later. I have not seen the strange flashing LED indicators on the controller and power supply repeated (everything looks normal on the controller and power supply but pump not running). There is definitely some kind of problem but not sure what it is, all parts have been cleaned extremely well and I can turn the drive unit freely by hand.

The pump is bad, send it in and I will replace it-
