6105 cavitating a bit

Rat Bastard!
Got the 24V jumpers that Tunze is offering (thank you Roger) and the pumps definitely move more water but I'm getting some cavitation now. The intake fins are pretty clean so I should be pulling enough water into the pump. I still plan on giving them a vinegar bath but when I put them back in the tank is there a minimum depth I should be shooting for? Any tips for combating pump cavitation?

Thanks,
Mike

About 5-6" from the top should be sufficient. Is it cavitating (degassing water from internal vacuum) or is it just creating a vortex and taking in air.

The pump isn't pulling a vortex. I don't see any bubbles coming from the front of the pump. The noise is only present when the controller kicks the pumps to high gear. I've got one in a vinegar bath right now to make sure that the fins are absolutely clear and then I'll do another noise check. I have them probably 8-10" from the surface so it sounds like I'm OK there. I'll update this later today when I put the pump back together.

Thanks as always.

Mike

Remove the drive magnet/prop from the shaft and soak these pieces separately. A common cause of noise like this is a prop and magnet assembly that cannot spin freely on the shaft. Also be sure the disk at the base is properly installed, the grooved face of the black plastic should be in contact with the base of the magnet.
