6105 issue

Hey Roger, I was doing a water change today and I unplugged my 2 6105s and when I plugged them back in, one of them would not start up. I switched around the cords and power supply with the other one and the one that was working still worked and the one that wasn't working still would not start up. Both power supplies have the lights lit on them where the jumper goes so they both seem to be good. These are about 1 1/2 years old. Any ideas what to do?

not starting up after power loss is often caused by calcium build up. Ty disassembly and a good vinegar soak.

The most common cause, assuming the power supplies do work, is that the prop is calcified to the shaft and once it stopped it cannot restart, though while it was spinning it was able to keep going. I would start by removing the prop assembly and being sure it is free to spin and slide back and forth on the metal shaft which does not move in normal operation. If they are seized, you will need to pull the shaft out and soak the parts seperately in 50/50 vinegar and water until the calcium is dissolved.

Rarely a power supply will light up but is not working, it would be very odd to have 2 do this though.

Thanks for the reply Roger. I'll try cleaning it and will let you know. It is only one pump that is doing it by the way.
