6105 problems

I've had the pump for about 9 months. I turned the 6105 off for about 30 minutes while I was doing some cleaning. When I turned it back on... nothing. It still powers the controller, I have tried all 3 fuses, took the pump out to make sure it wasn't jammed, spun it manually, and everything seemed fine. The only thing I can think of is that there is a short or bad component somewhere. It did kick on one time for about a second while I was working with it, but that's it. Is there anything else I can do/check before going the service route?

update:
I left the pump unplugged for about an hour, out of water, turned it back on, and it worked. It ran for a few seconds in the water then cut out. I was able to get it to cut in and out a few times by moving the wire on the pump. At this point I'm thinking the pump is shorting out. Since it has only been 9 months, am I able to take it back to the place of purchase, or do I need to ship it to Tunze?

You would need to send it in for repair. It could be the cord, but I would also check the drive unit, the most common cause of what you describe is that the prop and magnet have been cemented to the shaft by calcium deposits. The prop and magnet spin on the shaft, if the magnet has to drag the shaft with it, it will shut down after some seconds to minutes.

Ok, I'll send it in. I did disassemble everything and all parts appeared to be in working order. Isn't there an audible alarm for when the pump is jammed?

Only the much older 6100's had an audible alarm, this was replaced by a shut down on 6101 and 6105, without an external driver as on the 6100, there is no place to put an alarm. Basically if a new pump is jammed it turns on and tries to restart every 20 seconds, it will eventually give up after a few restart attempts fail.

I found a short in another accessory that was hooked up to to my Aquasurf. This was wreaking havoc on the signal to the 6501. I fixed the short, but it seems the 24v jumper was damaged (not sure if it was electrical or from pulling it in/out). I am up and running as normal with the 18v jumper. Thanks for your help.

Oh, I feel like I wasn't much help, my diagnosis was off, but I am glad you figured it out.
