6105 Turbelle pump not responding to controller

I have a 6105 pump which I bought as a replacement for one of my two 6101 pump who's controller failed. I attached it to the 7094 controller I had and it worked intermittantly. I thought I had a bad controller so I bought another used one on e-bay. The same thing happened. I then boughty a brand new 7095 controller and still having the same proble.

1) when I press on the feed botton, the 6105 pump stops working but never resume pumping. The only way out is to power off the controller then power it again. The pump returns but at full speed.

2) I can't control the speed of the pump from the 7095 controller.

3) if I disconnect the power supply to the 6105 transformer (the big box) , or disconnect the cable from the transformer to the smaller box (with the little white adjustment knb) or disconnet the cable from the little smaller box to the controller, nothing happens. Only reset is if th epower is off to the 7095controller.

I did use several new cables from the pump to the 7095 controller and no difference
So what is the next step before I buy two new 6105 pumps? This has been going on for months and it is frustrating.
 
First, their is no reason to buy new pumps, what you have can be repaired for much less.

Make sure that the white potentiometer knobs are turned up all the way, these should never be turned down when a controller is used. If they are, erratic behavior and non responsiveness are likely.

Try the pumps with the power supplies set to 18V or 12V, you only need to change one. Some earlier 6105's have an issue that we still don't fully understand but at 24V a static electric charge builds up inside the pump, tricks a sensor into thinking the pump has stalled and triggers a restart which resets the controller. If you have 2 pumps like this and only change one to 18V it will generally solve the problem as one will keep the power steady and not reset. The real root of this issue is still a mystery as sometimes it is resolved by just changing the power supply but it seems to be a build of a static charge or EMF affecting the circuitry and only occurs at the highest voltage setting, the pump will always run normally when no controller is used.
 
The transformer had the 24v set up. I changed it top 18v and it did not work. I changed it to 12v and it worked intermittently. I tried the pulse and interval modes. They work once I disconnect the power from the controller and re-connect. But after a while, the 6105 stops responding. If it is on and I press the feed button it stops but most of the time it does not come back. Could it be that one pump is the new one (6105 with the problem)and the other is the old one (6100) on a 7240.26 transformer?

What should I do next?
 
Their should be no compatibility issue between the pumps, but if one pump is bad, it can cause the controller to stall and act erratically. I would send in the pump, even in the worst case, I would expect a repair to be not much more than half of what a new pump would cost and that is if we replace the motor with a new one. Just include a note with your return address and phone number.

I sent the pump to Tunze and received it back after one week (no papers in the box to explain what was done). It seems that a new motor was installed. I plugged it in and it worked for 24 hours then quit!

No it will not start even if I reset the 7095 controller by unplugging the power supply.

My old 6100 is still working!

What should I do next? Buy a used or new 6105?

Yes, I was the one who did the repair work, I am sorry, I generally do not include any info about the repair simply because I have very limited time to get all the work done in a day.

I could not find much of an issue with your pump, it seemed to work correctly when paired with a 7092 which I use for testing here and my power supply set to 24V. I could only assume the issue was the 24V/ 7095 pairing issue as this was prevalent during the time your pump was made (Sept 2011) so while it was out of warranty I replaced the motor block at no charge. I found no other issues, the wattage was normal, etc. I will admit I should have called for more info, I was a bit behind at the time with repairs and I was 90% sure it had to be some issue with the motor circuitry since you had tried two controllers.

It is possible the issue is with the power supply or controller, but the motor you have now is brand new and I see no logic in replacing everything. I think I would start by trying no controller and verify the power supply is lit up and working, the power supplies tend to last 3-4 years, it is a bit soon at about 2yrs 8 months, but I would think a failed power supply is the most likely culprit.

Sorry it took me sometime to get back to you.
After almost giving up on the pump, I realized that I had switched it to 12V during the trouble shooting phase. So I placed back the 24V fuse and it started working again. So the pump has been behaving and responding to the controller for 4 days now.

I would like to thank you for the fast and excellent service (shipped pump on a Tuesday and got it back on a Tuesday - one week), for replacing the pumps' motor with a new one for free (after the warranty expired) and for your patience and knowledge in trouble shooting Tunze products on this forum.
