6200.5 Magnet Holder

I screwed up and nearly got my finger ripped off between the two magnets. Finger is fine but I can't sepparate the magnets, any ideas?

no worries, i got them apart.

I twisted like hell! There was no way to pull them apart so I pulled up on one side while pulling down on the other. It wasn't easy and I'm not a small guy.

you're right, its not easy, but i didn't even think it could be done, but I had to use a mallet to aid me.

I have not deal with the magnet holder but one of my customer has his tunze magnet cleaner stuck together. the strong one the one cost almost 400 bucks. he brought it to the store with his finger black and blue (poor thing). I help him separate them. It wasn't easy but it can be done just like Newschool said try to twist them. Good luck and beware of tunze magnet holder . May tank your finger for good hahahaha

I was lucky not to smash my finger. Put a nice dent in it though and it's still pulsing a little!

Yeah.... I had to be a smarta$$ and play with the damn magnets while I was driving with one had. The stupid things slammed shut on one hand while I was driving with the other. Screamed my head off while I took the other hand off the wheel and ripped the magnets off. Those magnets are STRONG, and potentially dangerous. But then again, not everyone's as smart as I am to be playing with them WHILE driving.

i will sign up too... i got mine last week... and tunze magnet 1, ring finger 0 and its still tingling... i am now scared to try to get them apart :lol:

problem with getting them apart is you have to twist them and the only way to really get a good grip is hold them between your legs and pull like hell.
Real strong magnets, pulling like hell and all of this between your legs is a recipe for disaster. Ring finger will be an after thought if you get anything else caught between those magnets!

Off the topic, but do you need the 6200.5 for a 180g tank? What's the thickness of the glass? I was hoping to get away with the 6080.5 on my tank with 1/2" glass.

I would go for the 6200.5 DaveWC. You need the box to be steady and I dont' think you'll get that with the smaller magnet

the glass on my 180 is 3/4" and it was recommended that i use a 6200.5
