Boyd Chemi-pure

I have never used Boyd Chemi-pure before, have used charcoal before since the person I got my Fluval evo from gave me 3 packages of it, but read some good things about Chemi-pure so when I got the new skimmer I got two containers of it. put one in the media basket yesterday with plans of changing it in around 3 months since the directions say to replace between 2 and 4 months. Just wondering if it is any good and worth using?

Which version did you buy? There are several. His products have been around since the 1960s. I’d say that shows their products have stood the test of time.

It’s basically carbon with in resins to absorb impurities. Poly-filters (that have been around since 1976) have a good reputation too.

I will say that after it has been in the system, only since Saturday… the water looks much clearer. Maybe a combination of it and a skimmer that is working properly again
