Well so i have ran into a wall figuring out this dang skimmer. Cant seem to get it to work i have it at about 9.5in but nothing. Wth its been a week, and im feeding the the 3 anthias :-(. On another note, i got my doors yesterday from ikea. Dude that was custom doing it for me wanted 700 big ones :O. Wife was like helll no. So i got some nice ones in ikea. Will put them up this weekend. I was gonna put some frags in from my buds tank sincd he has tons of them for me, but i need to figure this skimmer out first :'(

You've done an exceptional job of integrating the tank and the equipment into you home mate, looks very classy. I'll be following along to see the sticks going in.

Awesome build!!
The only thing I would say is grab some wider molding and hid the top waterline other than that makes me with I did an in wall again!
Looking forward to the rest of the build.

I have thought about it , but wife doest want thicker molding. She says it will take away from her modern flow shes got at the house ...women and their fashion.
ty.means a lot
So i been playing with this skimmer, and im having an extremely hard time dialing it in. Its been in vinegar and water now since yesterday morning and really hasn't pulled anything out. WTH. How long does it take for this thing to break in. I have pulled the pump apart like 3 times already to ensure no cracks, and checked for leaks nothing.. It seams like it skims for a sec there and Poof , water level drops and no more skimm. I have super fine bubbles so at the mouth, so idk. Im going crazy here...

Se here its how it kinda starts, then after like 20 mins water level drops inside to about the neck and no more foam rise

So bad news, had a jumper today.. One of the anthias decided to make a run for it and jumped out. Found her on top of the brace towards the back :'(. Ah well

Very well done. Great Job!

ty. for those kind words

Hey guys sorry i haven't posted in a few. I seem to have a bad bacteria bloom i just don't know how to get rid of. Its killing me, and on top its taken 1of my anthias :-(. I tested my water and everything seems good, my cycle is over it seems. I had a tiny diatom breakout but its going away now. All params are good, ph 8.2 alk 10, calc 420, and ammonia , nitrites and nitrates are undetectable almost. Feeding very little, every other day. Skimming gunky, but just went to wet since i read its better for blooms. Got carbon going in 2 mesh bags. But this bacterial bloom is making my water extra milky wth. 1 anthias died, they were eating baby misys and seemed very happy. I'm afraid to loose the last one. Any help on how to stop this would be greatly appreciated. Im thinking of using a UV, but trying to avoid it and use it as a last resort. Thanks guys

Hey guys so i ran the uv, and it's been 3 days and wow water is crystal clear. However I'm going to wait about 2 more days before i disconnect it from the tank. This bloom sucked big time., it killed my fishies so wifie is depressed lol. Guess it means more to cure her sorrows lol. Well here are some sticks i picked up from my buddy, they are doing great. Sucks that its hella difficult to take good pics with these leds. Really dont do it justice how good they look in person. Still dont have the doors in since i reorder them from different place, since the last guy wanted a fortune. Shop says friday they will be in ;-). Also sorry for the cables and crap, its the uv B-).

The one to the left was dying in my buds tank, with no polyp extension at all. Its looking really good in mine, however 3rd one from left died, wasnt doing good in his tank either :'(

I want your TV.............. those frags are looking really good in your last update mate, shame about losing one but it happens despite all you do sometimes. Glad you nipped that bacteria bloom in the bud with the UV :) How are things going with your water now, any idea what caused it in the first place.
Try using the camera flash with the LED's on and turn down the blues until you're happy with the outcome, won't be perfect but it'll be a whole lot better than the frustrating results they give normally. I do it with my blue/white LED over the sump. :)

Nice setup. How do you like the wireless control for the hydra? Do the buttons respond accurately or do you sometimes get multirespond or no respond to button commands?

THanks Biggs, i will try that for the pics. As far as water , i got rid of the bacteria bloom with a UV. Water params are great now. corals are are happy. However i now have a pod bloom. I HAVE never , in my 10 yrs in this hobby have seen soooooo many pods. THEY are all over, glass, rocks, sand and even in the water column. It almost looks like dirt, but they are pods. I have seen them with a loupe, and im pretty sure its pods. SHould i worry?. I have since minimized feeding. Im Hoping this helps. Suggestions??
FTS please....
Getting my buddys nikon this weekend and i will take one.

LOve the lights however controller can be touchy. But director will take care of this , when its out.

Those critters sound more like mysis if they're swimming in the water column, i've heard of them blooming at times. If the acros are happy despite the bloom i wouldn't be worrying too much as the population will self regulate once the food is used up and those critters will be contributing to the foods available for your corals. I have pods, mysis etc all happily living in my system so don't react too quickly if you're happy with the tank overall mate.
Look forward to some more pics of those corals when you get a chance :)
