i am new to the whole saltwater tanks. i have a 75 gallon that i am going to make a reef tank and was woundering what i have to add to my tank for my tank to thrive. what test kits should i get.

Research and plan before you buy anything. Go slow. Start with the sticky at the top of this forum. It also helps to use a descriptive subject on your posts.
