just to show how much shorter the stand is i can now sit it on its side and put all the wood inside the legs and still get into the washroom at the other end of the room as opposed to being trapped in
lol

now as for placement of the tank, the plywood tank will be simply replacing the old one and the old one will be sold in the next little while, with the purchase of the new fish from the gf on boxing day it has kinda moved up my time table because the powder blue literally is twice the size of anything in the tank and needs a bigger home :)

i would definitely add a layer or two of fiberglass mat or cloth to the inside and even to the outside (just for protection) if not on the outside be sure to epoxy paint the outside really well...make sure you use 45 gussets on the inside corners of the tank to help teh fiberglass bend around the corner a little better...plus they give that little extra for glueing and screwing...and at 45* they dont really present any visual obstruction...

under the laminate is a solid concrete slab so im not worried there as for ventilation the tank is being placed in front of a window that goes along the entire length of the tank and i will also be running some sort of de-hum havent really decided on that part yet, as for control im looking at running my whole tank from a laptop. in the mean time when the tank is setup i will be running 4 mp40's to start and will figure out the control later on :)

update for today.

just got back from HD picked up a bunch more 2x6's to finish framing the stand shouldnt take long maybe an hour or so
also made a trip to the fish store just for shits and giggles, i really shouldnt do this
lol
i always come home with something
came home today with a mandarin goby gorgeous fish :)

ok man we will let it slip this time since you have pictures for us EH!!!!!!

good start on the mini ocean :fun2:

hey guys sorry for the lack of updates over the last week as not much got done with the holidays and new years, such a busy time of year for me!

anyways made some progress today as i got bothe the walls done and put together, i also cut the wood for the frame of the front panel and then ran out of 2x4's lol
ah well it was bound to happen :)

so when i have some time over the next few days i'll be raiding home depot for some more wood and then trying to find a place to get the epoxy from up here as i dont know if i wanna try and get it over the border and pay a fortune in duty.
heres some pics to keep you at bay!
