i have a mag drive 7 for my sump and its a little to powerful for my sump...my ball valve is turned to all but closed and i know its not good for it...the only problem with the pump is it makes a slight ratter but they all could do that im not sure..but if neone has one that could use a 7 plz let me know...thanks

i was thinking the same thing but idk if the 3 will b enough for my sump? and the 7 to much on my skimmer....it might be worth a try...then again i got enough micro bubbles comnig from my skimmer now but i guess i could give it a shot.....

tell me alittle about your set up... So you have a mag 3 and a 7? Is the 3 in the upper right hand corner of your tank (in that pic) is it hooked to your skimmer? What kind of skimmer are you running and how long has it been running?

Is the mag 7 in your sump acting as a return pump? Do you have baffles and all that good stuff in your sump? If the Mag 7 is completely submerged it shouldnt be creating bubbles.

i have the aqua c remora pro that i got off of dave, the mag 3 is hooked up to that.....its been running for a few days now...from what i understand u get the bubbles in this skimmer when its new but it was run in his tank for a while so i figured i wouldnt have a problem, but i do unfortunately....and as far as the mag 7 it is my return pump in the sump and is submerged....the 7 isnt creating ne bubbles just the skimmer itself....but my sump dosent have ne baffles or nething just the HOB overflow down to the sump no media currently but water does run through a standard sponge then through i guess a wall if that would be considered a baffle then into the pump and back up.... the main problem is the bubbles from the skimmer i pretty much have the pump and everything equal i think although id still like a 5 cause it wouldnt b so restricted but for now it works....

I was just checking out your pics before you responded and noticed the Aqua Remora... #1 you gotta lose the hose clamp on there... use a couple zip ties or something that metal is noooo good in your tank.

I used to run a Mag 7 on my Aqua Remora and it rocked... pulled some serious scum out of the water... The Aqua Remora isnt plug and play you'll have to slowly adjust the air screw to not so much air is getting in there...That should cure your millions of micro bubbles....

Im still kinda unclear why you have the 7 restricted if its the return filter.. Is the water not getting back down the sump fast enough and thats why it needs to be restricted? If thats the case try swapping the 3 and the 7 and see how that works...

How many other power heads do you have in the tank for flow?

Through that Mag 7 on your skimmer, adjust the air screw and let that bad boy skim its head off.

where is there an air screw?? and i asked ken the same thing about the metal thing and he said not to worry about it he said if nething its an added benefit or something and yes that is the reason it is restricted if i wouldnt have the ball valve on it would over flow prettygood

If you take the collection cup off the top look down inside the box... there should be a pipe bent down on the right hand side with a air screw in the pipe... adjust slowly and make sure not the drop the air screw down inside the pipe.

thanks i didnt even know it was there lol....but i saw a way to modify the pump to get a better skim...instead of using the regular old peice that attachs to the pump to add water u take a 90 pvc pipe with a straigt pvc and get it close to the top of the surface and it skims the top a little better....as a precaustion id prolly drill some holes a little farther down in the straight piece in case my pump on my sump fails and the water goes down ....but imma try it when i have acces to cut a piece of pvc and let ya know how it goes

the metal thing we talked about was the hose clamp on the mag 3. take the cup off the remora, and you see the gray pipe spraying down. the screw on the top of it is the adjustment screw I believe. but there are other way to adjust also. dave or somebody will know how to fine tune it.

it looks like you found a clear plastic U-tube for the overflow. thats good. if its 1 inch ID. dont know why the mag 7 is more than the skimmer can handle . dave used them both together for a couple years on his 90.

how about 7 for 3

how about 7 for 3

well i figured out my sump ..i put the 3 from my skimmer in my sump and it seems to be working perfectly...gotta let it run for a while to really see but now i have a 7...im gonna try it on the skimmer when my headache from working on my sump goes away but if it dont work im gonna need a 3...let me know plz thanks
