7095 vs. 7096

What's the primary difference between these 2 controller? They are priced very differently. I am planning to get a couple of 6105 for my 150g SPS tank, which one should I got?

7095 is a stand alone controller, the 7096 is only programmable with a computer, at present the software is only compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7. A mac version is due soon. The 7096 does more, but it is cheaper because your computer is doing most of the work. It doesn't have any knobs and very few LED's. It is basically just some memory to store the program. Once programmed it can be disconnected from the computer. If you don't like computers, get the 7095, the 7095 is mainly for technophobes and maintenance companies at this point.

Thx Roger.

So if we can't get the 7096 to work with a computer, what kind of factory default setting comes with it?

BTW, I suppose the settings on the 7096 will not be rid out in case of a power outage right?

It uses flash memory and stores the settings even if there is a power outage, there is no default program. While occasionally it is difficult to connect, I have never had anyone who was completely unable to connect to it. The only problem bug is the connection delay and that is being worked on and since it is a software based unit, you just have to download the updates from the website to update the unit.

Is the 7091 also computer base or stand alone? I only plan to get 2 Tunze 6105 for my 150g sps (you think that's enough?) so buying 2 7091 is another option.

What do you think?

2 7091 is not a very good option, it doesn't have near the possibilities of the 7095 or 7096, the 7091's are stand alone and only have pulse mode.

You set a normal mode like Sequence, Interval or Pulse and if you turn on Storm Mode, every 1-7 days a storm is created that overrides the regular mode for a few minutes. It is a preprogrammed sequence like mode that increase in intensity until all 4 pumps are running full power.
