7096 Foodtimer will not engage

About 18 months ago, I bought a 7096 controller and 6055 pump for the tank. Up until now, it has just been set up in pulse mode and working fine. Recently, I added a 6095 to the mix, connected up the controller, made adjustments to the first two sets of power settings, and updated the controller. Flow seems to work fine, but now the foodtimer will not engage. I reflashed the controller using the instructions at

but the foodtimer will still not engage. I can feel the button depressing. Anyone else had this issue? Any ideas?
Thanks

How long is the food timer set for? I might open the controller, be sure your hands are dry, and you will see the physical red button that you are pushing through the cover, it may not be lined up with the opening or not being fully depressed.

I have it set for 10 minutes. I will open it up and check the button alignment. Do you just have to press and release the button or hold it until the lights go out before releasing? I have always had to press and hold to get it to engage.
Thanks

It should be just press and let go. I suspect something is wrong with the button under the keypad.
