7096 running while hooked up

Can you run this unit while permanently hooked up to the pc? My tank Is approximate 15' from my pc and would like to hook it up and leave it will it work or mess something up?

While I don't know of anyone who has tried this, I can see no reason it would mess anything up and any issue would likely just require restarting the PC.
