7096 will not send/receive data from unit

I have the software installed and laptop connected to the unit. It will not allow me to submit my changes. Says no unit found in bottom left.

At the bottom of the screen it will likely say no unit found, go into the com port settings and set Xon/Xoff for flow control and it should then connect.
