Purchasing a 6ft oceanic 175 gallon bowfront next weekend :D

Need to know what people are using for sumps/refugiums, return pumps, skimmers, etc..

Pictures would be just AWESOME !!!

I'm finally in the 6 foot club :)

FINALLY !!!!

Krazy K,

As you know, I am selling my system to upgrade....great choice on your tank! I ran a closed loop system using only 1 of the two overflows in each corner. I housed a 45 gallon glass tank as my sump. The closed loop system worked as follows:

The return of the left side emptied directly into my sump. I had a generic submersible return pump that was inside of the sump that pumped water back up into the right end of my overflow. I used a 31/2 inch DSB, 3-4 maxi-jet powerheads and around 100 pounds of liverock. I never had a problem with my system. It ran for 2 1/2 years until I recently tore it down. I had 4 160watt VHOS powered by 2 Icecap 430s.

Thank you for the reply !!

I am so excited to move and get this tank going...

Couple questions as I dont have the tank yet, going to pick it up saturday...

Is the canopy an open top? Is it plastic or wood ?

Is there just one centerbrace ?

Was the 45gallon tank the biggest you could house under there ?

I have 200lbs of sand so far, I plan on another 100lbs..

I have 150lbs in my 90 gallon I am switching over, along with 15lbs or so in my sump, I was thinking of running a mag 9.5 on each overflow or a mag 18...

I've got questions galore !

:D

Good luck and congrats. I still miss my 175 bow (Im guessing its the Oceanic)

Here is a pic of my old tank before I upgraded to a 450

Used the miracle mud system with a ecosystem. Hang one skimmer turbofloater and a Koralin calcium reactor. Trouble was after this pic tank went downhill as I didnt plan long term. Tough part of a bowfront is getting the flow right.

Good Luck!
