72" Solaris Worthless????

I have a friend who bought one. He has not yet taken it out of the box and now realizes with everything going on at PFO that there will be no warranty or replacement parts. Is that true and if so what is the light worth.
Thanks

Use it, any good electrical wizard can fix em. I am working on a way to get replacement parts for units that break, my buddy is an electrical engineer and he said no issues replaceing LED's as they break or making new boards

I'd try to sell it if you can. Might have a rough time selling it on RC though. Pretty much everyone here knows what's up.

I don't, what going on?

Long story short, another company has a patent for this. PFO didn't check (( or wasn't concerned about it )) for existing patents and it no longer making that light.

Here's an idea, why not take it apart and sell the parts. There are a ton of people looking for LED strips and ballast.

Great idea!

I think you might as well use it. You will certainly not recoup the amount originally spent, and it CAN be fixed if you need it to be.

Oh come on!!! I know the animosity on RC towards this light is ridiculous, but take apart a $4000 fixture to sell as parts when it isn't even malfunctioning???

I love my Solaris. You can't buy it from me, especially in light of the patent war. Not the greatest for SPS, but (when working!) an outstanding light for everything else.

Heck I will take it of you let it go, seriously use it they rock. I like my solaris lights alot, my new show tank is going to MH for 2 reasons, the lawsuit and a tank this big would cost a small fortune to light with a solaris.

And the long story short was really incorrect. it was not just PFO, every LED company is on notice lol. I love all the thank god I bought this led or that led haha.....It appears that the patent is BS anyway but it will cost a ton to prove it and then sue to get you legal fees paid...

the other frustrating part is doesn't seem like the company that holds the patent is even making LED lights

Aqua illuminations is still in business and isn't going under, more than likely they talked with orbitec ( who has the patent) and worked something out. I would use the light seeing as you have it allready, PFO has already closed up shop so there is no warrentee but it isn't broken yet and it can be fixed IF you wanted to find someone to do it as mentioned above
