75 gallon build

I am going to be starting a 75 gallon build here soon. I contemplated a custom tank, but at this time, i think its better to just stick with my 75 gallon tank I have

I have a

mag 9.5 that will be the return pump.
SRO xp2000 ( might be a little big but it will work)


The lights is where im having difficulties.. I like halides, but I dont like the heat..

Im open to anything, would like suggestions, corals will be any and all.. Thanks for the help!

Get a halide fixture. They usually come with a fan in the fixture and this really helps with the heat.

i see a maristar fixture locally for a decent price. I may jump on it.

You could go with leds... check out ledreeflights (I think thats what the company is called) or AI LED fixtures...

Best part of LEDs - no changing of bulbs till 7 years or so and much lower power consumption. Low heat emission too.

i agree with you, but im really not sure about leds yet, and what I need.. CAn you help point me to the right direction?

IMO a Mag 9.5 is to big for a 75g. I run a Mag 5 on mine and it is perfect. I would say go with 2 250w MH because that has worked out very well for me and no heat issues.
