i have my tek 8 bulb siting about 6" off the tank and see no bleavching effects at all i had it about 3" at one point and no bleaching ether just a heat problem.

It depends... PAR values will let you know for sure. I try to keep my Acros somewhere between 200-400. LPS and Polyps <100.

On my 90g tank, I was overdriving the bulbs with IceCap ballasts and was able to get PAR values of 200-300 on the sandbed, with the bulbs 8" above the water.

I would definitely recommend testing the PAR values rather than guessing.

I had the guy who built my tank build me one. I stuck a float switch in it to shut the skimmer down if it would happen to overflow for any reason. Works great.

I bought the 5 liter Aqua C Waste Container a few months ago. I fill it 1/2 way every 7 - 10 days. Since I have been dosing Vodka the skim is SUPER dark and thick.

I have seen pictures of yours TJ, it looks nice!

I have been dosing Vodka since October 6th. I add it daily...

10/06/09 : .3ml
10/09/09 : .6ml
10/12/09 : 1.0ml
10/19/09 : 1.5ml
10/26/09 : 2.0ml

and so on... I up the dose .5ml every week. I am at 4.0ml this week.
