75 Gallon Mixed Reef Stocking Suggestions

Hi Guys,

I'm not exactly new to this hobby (Been keeping a reef for two years) but I'm always trying to be a better. I had a tank crash 3 months ago due to a power outage that killed off my first reef = (. Sadly I was on my honeymoon so I couldn't do much about till I got back.

It is now reestablished and I am rebuilding. This time I would like some ideas regarding stocking. Currently my aquarium is the following:

-75 Gallon display with about 75 - 90 lbs of live rock.
-30 Gallon Sump, Reef Octopus 150 skimmer, GFO Reactor, Tunze ATO
- 3 Hydor Koralia Powerheads (I can't remember the GPH)

Clean up Crew:
5 Hermit Crabs
15 assorted margarita, astrea, and cerith snails
1 Large banded brittle star (not green)
1 Tuxedo Urchin
2 Turbo Snails

Corals:
Colt Coral
Hammer
Mushroom
Blue Cespitularia (Grows like crazy in my aquarium)

I would like to add mainly soft corals with possibly a few softer looking LPS (Frogspawn, hammer, ect..)

Fish:
Flame Hawkfish
6 line Wrasse (Very peaceful and only survivor of the crash)
2 Oscellaris Clown Fish

Does anyone have any suggestions for future fish stocking to finish this up? I am interested in what other people like that is colorful an active to finish off this stocking.

Thanks,

I was interested in the dwarf flame but aren't they known coral nippers? Could I do a couple wrasses (Melanarus and flasher). My 6 line has never shown signs of aggression but I'm not sure if that's because there is no other wrasses.

Ya they are know to nip at coral but i heard they are hit or miss. I am a wrasse lover myself I have head that six lines can be satanic and obliterate new wrasse. it is worth a try, also if you got an acclimation box you could see how the six line reacts to the new wrasse. Melanarus wrasse also are known to eat cuc so be aware of that.

Such a personal decision. I have been wanting to upgrade from my 20g to a 65-90g tank.

The fish I would definitely be including:

6 line wrasse (pest control, learned my lesson getting rid of my first one. Also pretty & active fish)
Midas blenny
Clown pair - would splurge on a designer pair, eg black ice etc
Fairy wrasse
Goby/Shrimp - My ywg + pistol shrimp is one of my favorite things in current tank. The pistol shrimp comes out to be pipette fed whenever I feed the tank.
Orchid Dottyback - have one now, makes a mess digging but pretty fish none the less.
Clown goby(s?) - I personally enjoy them

Would also add 1 if not 2 cleaner shrimp. Have one now - was amazed at how much personality they have.

Always been a fan of tanks with lots of small fish, so my ideal tank would include more and more small fish as it scaled up in size. Would probably add a small juvi blue tang just because if I ever upgrade tank size my wife would demand input and she has wanted me to get a tang for my 20g tank for years -.-

Corals:
-can't go wrong with zoanthids.
-if you're into tree coral my favorite photosynthetic is the lemon tree.
-what about a toadstool? Your clowns might even host it. (though you do have the euphyllia so who knows)

Fish:
-I'm a fan of the shrimp - goby pair.
-with a tank that size I'd want:
-a damsel or two
-definitely a school of chromis or cardinalfish
-maybe some anthia

As for the DFA everyone I've seen mention them nipping mentioned them nipping at soft coral or euphyllia. So... based on your potential coral stocking, it might not be a wise decision.

Does anyone know if the Melinarus tends to kill hermits or snails or is it just crabs and shrimp? I'd be interested anthas but I was thinking of getting a few different colored wrasses. Saw my first wrasse heavy aquarium and the colors were fantastic. Anyone have experience with them and what would you recommend for type? I do nother have nor plan to get any shrimp or crabs. Snails, urchin, and hermits only.
